The Weekly 4: one question, one answer, one insight, and one resource to help you on the path to business ownership.
A lot of people think they procrastinate because they’re afraid or undisciplined. But in my experience, that’s almost never the real reason.
Most aspiring business owners aren’t avoiding the work out of weakness. They’re hesitating because their intuition is telling them something is missing.
So if procrastination isn’t the problem, what is actually holding people back from moving toward business ownership?
One Question
What’s one thing I could do this week that would make moving toward business ownership feel just a little safer?
One Answer
After two decades and helping 35,000 aspiring owners, I’ve learned this: procrastination isn’t usually the problem. It’s the symptom. People stall not because they lack desire or discipline, but because the path from their current life to the life they want doesn’t feel workable yet.
There are three foundational gaps that create this hesitation: Purpose, Time, and Clarity. Purpose is your reason for doing this in the first place. If it isn’t strong or personal enough, you won’t have the commitment to push through the uncomfortable parts.
Time is the space you set aside regularly to explore. Without that space, you can’t build momentum, and the pull of your current life always wins. Clarity is knowing what you want, where to start, and what to do next. Without it, everything feels overwhelming, and it becomes easier to do nothing.
When even one of these is missing, people stall out. When all three are in place, the path finally feels clear enough and safe enough to move forward.
If you suspect one of these gaps is holding you back, I break each one down in more detail in this week’s video and share how you can start closing them: You can watch it here.

One Resource
If what I shared in this week’s video didn’t quite resonate, or you’re still trying to understand where your procrastination is coming from, here’s another perspective worth exploring. Tim Pychyl is one of the leading researchers on procrastination, and in this lecture he breaks down the psychology behind why we delay and what it actually means. If you want a deeper look at the emotional side of procrastination, give it a watch:
